Weight Watching

Once again I feel drawn to write on my blog what I feel is needed for myself and others. I am a woman of God and I know what God's Word speaks to me about the weights of life that "so easily beset my walk with God.
So, today I want to talk about the weight of "FEAR". How many times have I swallowed my faith as I faced the weight of fear? The fear of failure, the fear of the unknown, the fear of disappointments, the fear of loss, the fear of rejection, or being out of control. That's just a few!

Our world, our circumstances, our lives, and each day provide this weight to present itself in our path and paralyze us from moving forward. The paralysis doesn't last, but it can and will get the upper hand on us and become a heavy weight if we do not deal with it.

The enemy of our soul uses fear to "freeze" our motion, so that we will not move past the place we are. 1 Peter 5:8 tells us "your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion for someone to devour." Last year I went to South Africa on a little safari trip to see the lions and wild animals of that country. I was amazed at the size of these creatures of power. I did not get to hear the roar of the lion, but I am told that a male lions roar can be heard for 2 miles. Now think about this, God's Word says that the enemy against us is LIKE ( he's posing as) a lion and his tactic to freeze our motion is to get next to our ears and roar as loud as he can so that we began to shake at every notion he presents us with. He roars that we will fail, that we will lose, that we will disappoint, that we will be out of control, that we will not be accepted, that we will die. Have you heard that?

The truth in this matter is FEAR then becomes a weight upon our lives as we begin to rationalize the roar. We cannot dismiss the truth, there is only one lion that deserves a place of prominence in our lives and He is lion of the tribe of Judah. His name is Jesus!

Hebrews 12:1 reminds of us TRUTH. We can lay aside and throw off this unnecessary weight if we cling to and look to Jesus who is our LEADER, our source of FAITH, and the finisher of our faith, He helps bring us to completion and perfection. Oh girlfriends, lets get rid of the extra weight of fear that we have been carrying and listen to the sweet still voice of Jesus as He tells us to walk on there is joy set before you, there is a prize ahead. Now, do you understand why Satan wants to paralyze you in fear? Let's all watch our weight of fear and lose it for good!
